- The American Heart Association issued new guidelines
in CPR for both medical and lay personnel as of 2006.
These guidelines include changes in the compression-ventilation
ratio per cycle, the number of rescuers per child
and infant and foreign-body airway obstruction for
adult, child and infant. We encourage you to purchase
or review the AHA manual and CD for further information.
- According to the 2005 Food and Drug Administration
(FDA) Code update;
New definitions have been added to the food code
such as asymptomatic, conditional employee, major
food allergen, Escherichia Coli (E coli), and re-service
Potentially Hazardous Food - better known as a Time/Temperature
Control for safety food. For example, it was previously
recommended to cook ground beef to an internal temperature
of 140F (60c) in order to destroy any bacteria that
may be present. Now that Shigaru, a toxin-producing
Escherichia coli bacteria, is on the scene, it is
recommended to cook ground beef at 155F (68c) or above.
This WILL destroy the bacteria that may be present
in the raw meat
These and other issues are addressed in the FDA Food
Code Update. Contact us for additional information on
obtaining a copy of the update.
